I. What This Means for Your Organisation

A. Schedules

In the Schedule Board, 2026 public holidays are now displayed for staff whose profiles indicate a State that observes the relevant holiday. These days will be highlighted with the canary green color code, making it easy to identify public holidays that apply to each staff member.

For example, January 26 (Australia Day) is a nationwide public holiday and will appear for all staff if the State field is filled. For other regional holidays, visibility will depend on the state selected in the staff profile, some holidays will apply to certain staff, while others will not.

B. Quotes

New quotes for 2026 will automatically factor in public holidays, ensuring accurate pricing and service availability.

C. Invoice Output

When exporting invoices, rates for 2026 public holidays will be accurately reflected, ensuring correct billing for services provided on these dates.

II. Settings for Viewing Public Holidays

A. Ensure Public Holidays Are Displayed on the Schedule Board

  • Go to Settings > General Config > Public Holidays in Scheduling.

  • Make sure the checkbox labeled Override Staff Work Schedule for Public Holidays is unticked so that public holidays are displayed on the Schedule Board for staff.

B. Organization Public Holidays

  • Go to Settings > General Config > Organization Public Holidays.

  • This setting allows the organization to choose the time category that follows public holiday rules. The recommended default setting is Public Holidays. The time blocks you select here will impact how the Scheduling page displays and manages those dates.

C. Set Up the State Field for Staff

  • Go to the detailed profile section for the staff member.

  • Locate the State field and select the appropriate state for the staff member. Staff will only see public holidays that apply to the state selected in their profile.

D. Set Up the Work Schedule for Staff

  • Go to the staff member’s profile.

  • Navigate to the Work Availability section.

  • Create or update the work schedule for the staff member. For detailed instructions, see Set Up Staff Work Availability.

E. Set Public Holiday Rates

CareVision automatically applies public holiday rates for nationwide public holidays.

For regional public holidays, you need to manually create and apply the appropriate rates to bookings scheduled on those dates. For detailed instructions on how to manage regional public holidays, see the Handling Regional Public Holidays in Billing and Payroll documentation.

III. Next Steps

  • You may now draft quotes for clients with services extending into 2026. Public holidays will be accurately incorporated into all calculations.

  • Review any existing quotes or schedules for 2026 to ensure they align with the updated public holiday settings.

  • Check the Schedule Board to confirm public holidays are correctly displayed for relevant staff.

  • Ensure invoice exports reflect the correct rates for public holidays.
