What Happens During DST Update

During DST transitions, CareVision automatically updates staff work availability to reflect the applicable timezone change. This applies to both Ordinary and Contract hours.

CareVision will implement the DST update on 5 April 2026. When DST ends on this date, the system will automatically update existing work availability in line with the transition from AEDT to AEST.

Note: The update will be applied to all organisations except those based in Queensland.

Scenario 1: Work Availability Created Before DST (Auto-Adjusted +1 Hour for DST)

A staff member has work availability created on 1 February 2025 during the Non-DST period (AEST).

The assigned shift is:

  • Monday and Tuesday

  • 9:00 am – 5:00 pm AEST

What Happens on 5 October 2025 (DST Starts)

When DST started on 5 October 2025, CareVision automatically created a corresponding DST (AEDT) version of the schedule.

What Happens on 5 April 2026 (DST Ends)

  • CareVision automatically switches back to the 2025 Non-DST Ordinary Work Schedule.

  • Note: In the 2025 Non-DST Ordinary Work Schedule, make sure the end date is left blank. If an end date is already set, remove it so the schedule will automatically revert to non-DST once the update is implemented.

Scenario 2: Work Availability Created During DST (Auto-Adjusted -1 Hour After DST Ends)

A staff member is onboarded during the DST period.

An admin creates the staff member’s work availability with a start date of 5 March 2026, which falls under the 2025-2026 DST period (AEDT). The assigned shift is:

  • Monday and Tuesday

  • 9:00 am – 5:00 pm AEDT

On 5 April 2026, the system automatically:

  1. Creates a new 2026 Non-DST Ordinary Work Schedule
  2. Updates the staff member’s existing availability
  3. Shifts all times back by 1 hour
  4. Updates the end date of DST work schedules to 5 April 2026

Scenario 3: Work Availability Created After DST Update (Manual Entry Required)

If you are creating new work availability after 5 April 2026 (Non-DST period), make sure you enter all times using AEST (standard time).

Recommended Practices

  1. Review staff availability, calendars, and schedules around the DST transition period.
  2. Confirm that any bookings or shifts reflect the correct local time.
  3. Communicate any potential impacts to staff and clients in advance.
  4. Make sure all new entries use the correct timezone by confirming whether the date falls under AEDT (DST) or AEST (Non-DST).

If you have any questions about the DST update, contact the CareVision Support Team.
